A Song for the Young and Young at Heart

Today I've got a little song for the kids and for the young at heart. This is a song by an Aussie guy called Dan Worloe, recorded with the Watoto Children's Choir. It's all about how we know God loves us because of all the things that He's done.

We Are Loved More Than We Could Ever Know

Sometimes the simplest truths are the most profound. And this song captures one of the most profound truths of the Christian faith in the most beautifully simple way:

We are loved by God more than we could ever know. There's so many things that He's done to let it show.

Think about that for a moment. God's love for us isn't hidden. It isn't a secret we have to decode. He has gone out of His way — again and again — to let it show.

How Do We Know?

The song walks us through the evidence, and every line points to the story of Jesus:

• He left His throne in heaven above. The God of the universe chose to step down from glory — not because He had to, but because He wanted to be near us.
• He came down to this earth for us. God didn't send a message from a distance. He came Himself, in the person of Jesus, entering into our world with all its mess and beauty.
• He took our place and took our sin. On the cross, Jesus bore what we could never bear on our own. He stood where we should have stood.
• With open arms He welcomed us in. This isn't a God who grudgingly tolerates us. This is a God with arms flung wide open, inviting us home.

God Gave His Only Son

God gave His only Son. Gave His life for everyone. Paid the price to bring us home. So we'd never be alone.

That's the heart of the gospel right there. God's love isn't abstract or theoretical — it's costly, personal, and complete. He paid the ultimate price so that we would never have to face life alone. Every one of us is included in that "everyone."

Look at All the Things He's Done

If you ever find yourself wondering whether God really loves you, the invitation is simple: look at all the things He's done. Look at the manger. Look at the cross. Look at the empty tomb. Look at the open arms.

That's how we know God loves us.
